19 April 1943 – A train left Mechelen, a town in Belgium. 1,631 men, women and children. The 20^th convoy to leave the Kazerne Dossin camp for Auschwitz Birkenau. Of the 18,000 people who had already made the journey, few escaped. Sent to the gas chambers at Auschwitz Birkenau. 25,833 Jews and 352 Roma were deported from Kazerne Dossin. (History Tody. April June 1947 – 17 April 1947 Betty Knout or Knouth, a female Irgun operative went from Britain on a ferry to Belgium, There she met up with Jaakov Elias, another Irgun operative. On 2 June 1947 Belgiun police alerted by M15 detained Knout and Elias while they were trying to move from Belgium into France. Special branch Leonard Burt went to Belgium and sent Knout fingerprints back to London. She was arrested in Belgium. (Empire of secrets. Calder Walton ©2013).

8 Sept 1969 – Grenade attack on El Al office Brussels. Two boys recruited by al-Fatah. The Iraqi embassy helped one escape.

8 may 1972 – Sabena airliner was hijacked from Brussels and forced to land in Tel Aviv. Israelis forced release of the plane and passengers. Two hijackers were killed and two are serving life in prison.

16 April 1979 – Brussels machine gun grenade attack wounded 17 people.
